New director: Geertje Jacobs

Geertje Jacobs has been appointed as the director of the EKWC. As of October 1, 2022, she will succeed Ranti Tjan, who has led the EKWC since 2010.

As the director, Geertje Jacobs will be responsible for both the artistic and business-financial policy of the EKWC. In Jacobs, the EKWC has found an inspiring and energetic connector who has a solid track record in the cultural sector. Geertje Jacobs’ prior positions were: director of the National Glass Museum Leerdam, Head of Collection of the Noord-Brabants Museum Den Bosch, and worked at the Textile Museum Tilburg and the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

Geertje Jacobs: “In my view, the EKWC is the most spectacular workshop in Europe, with enormous potential. What attracts me is the wide accessibility to the ceramic material and the high level of the center, both artistically and technically. To be able to contribute to and improve the unique position and quality of the EKWC is a privilege”.

Irene Fortuyn, Chair of the Supervisory Board of the EKWC, congratulates Geertje Jacobs on her appointment: “The Board is very pleased with the arrival of Geertje Jacobs as the new figurehead of the EKWC. We are convinced that the continuity and unique character of the EKWC will be in good hands with her arrival. With her vision and expertise, the EKWC expects to be able to take an important next step in its development.”
