There\u2019s something refreshing about the tests in Marlou Breuls\u2019 studio. The colours are vibrant, the shapes a bit odd, the texture unusual, like tufted wool. Breuls once used tufting for a large installation (Lady in Rug), and adapted the technique to create similar effects in latex at her studio House of Rubber, where she dissolves the borders between body and object. As a fashion designer she dressed Bj\u00f6rk and SIA, now she tries her hand at ceramics, using an adjusted air pressure gun to create clay tufts. The loops cover a trophy cup to end in dozens of outstretched fingers lining the mouth. They also cover a large boudoir for Breuls\u2019 dresses, endless rubber-like limbs draped around the chest, a fashionable head resting on top like a tired hat.
