Channa Boon |2

High above Piazza San Marco in Venice, two giant bronze figures, Il Due Mori, tell the hour by striking a large bell on top of St. Mark’s clocktower. For centuries, consecutive temperatori, or caretakers of the clock’s mechanism, lived in the tower with their families, until a drastic restauration made the function redundant. Channa Boon was captured by the bell, and by the story of the clocktower and its inhabitants. She decided to make a film about it, in collaboration with the last temperatore. As part of the project, Boon proposes to organise dinners where Venetians gather to exchange their memories of the city and its clocks, and to restore a social fabric disrupted by automatization, digitalisation and economic interests. Several ceramic pieces, based on artworks of the tower and San Marco square, will function as conversation starters. Il Due Mori descent among the people to listen to their stories.
