Gerbrand Burger (NL) has an interest in the surface of materials. Intrigued by the surface of glazed ceramics and the natural raw materials and ancient old techniques, Burger tried to create an as unpredictable as possible environment, to let himself be surprised by the results. The tiles are hand build and oxides and pigments were added to create visible textural traces of the creation process. The glazes have been applied in a spontaneous way in multiple layers by spraying, creating unpredictable results. The smaller (55x75cm) and larger (105x210cm) tiles will later be cut in intricate shapes and become a part of spatial assemblies.
