Stéphanie Baechlers’ (CH) practice is based on an interdisciplinary journey between fashion, textile, and ceramics. During her residency, she developed four bodies of work in which she mainly focused on foam-porcelain and ceramic boxes. Out of necessity and function, she started to develop special packaging for her fragile ceramics, the packaging itself became a theme in her work. Baechler created ceramic blocks and boxes. Her experience in pouring aluminum led her to experiment with drawing in clay in a sculptural way. Her latest tapestries that she created at TextielLab in Tilburg inspired her to work with the extruder and to create fragile ceramic nets, based on weaving structures and loose threads.
