residency costs

The costs of a working period at EKWC consist of fixed and variable cost items. The use of a studio and a bedroom, for example, is fixed for twelve weeks; while costs for materials, digital techniques, mold-making and kiln-firing depend entirely upon the type of work being made.

BASIC COSTS

The basic costs for a twelve-week working period (including living and working space, technical instructions, and service costs) are € 23.885,40 including 21% VAT.

If you are selected, you will receive an EKWC grant of up to €19.130,10 (including 21% VAT), consisting of subsidy funds from OCW, the province of North Brabant and the municipality of Oisterwijk.

The remaining costs to be paid by the participant are €4.755,30 (including 21% VAT).

If your project application is linked to a commercial or public assignment (for public spaces), we will make a tailor-made quotation. We will contact you after completing the selection procedure.

VARIABLE COSTS

In addition to the basic costs, we request an advance payment of €2.420,20 (including 21% VAT) from each resident for variable costs such as materials, 3D printing and milling, firing costs and for other services such as transport.

Please remember that these variable costs depend upon the size and character of the work being made. On average, the variable costs are approximately €2.420,20 (including 21% VAT) for a twelve-week working period — but this is only an estimate. The actual variable costs are calculated by our staff following each resident’s stay. Variable costs are first deducted from each resident’s advance payment. If a resident’s variable costs exceed this advance payment, they will then receive an additional invoice from the EKWC for the remaining amount. If the resident’s variable costs are lower than this advance payment, the EKWC will refund the remainder to the resident.

BASIC + VARIABLE COSTS, AND FUNDING

When added together, these basic costs, plus the advance payment of €2.420,20 for variable costs, equal € 7.275,50 (including 21% VAT and € 100,- deposit). This is the amount (plus any additional variable costs incurred beyond the advance payment) that residents will pay for a twelve-week residency. To cover these costs, applicants/residents are welcomed to apply for funding from their countries of origin or residence.
