EKWC [Co]Lab is intended for projects that fall outside the scope of EKWC Classic, for example because they would last only a month, or significantly longer than thirteen weeks. These often concern a specific research question or multidisciplinary projects in which a client is involved. Examples include work in public space, or a collaboration with one or more partners, such as a company, university, museum, collector or government body.
Each year, our schedule has room for several smaller [Co]Lab projects and one or two large projects. Applications are accepted year-round and are assessed in the order in which the complete application is received.
Selection procedure
Please contact us before submitting an application to see whether your project is a good fit for the EKWC [Co]Lab programme and how long it would take. Then we’ll also be able to provide an indication of the costs.
Please contact programme manager Eva Hoonhout at eva@ekwc.nl
Once you have submitted your application, it will be assessed internally – we don’t involve an external committee in the selection procedure for the [Co]Lab. If we are able to accept the project, we will provide you with a tailor-made quote.
Your application
Your application comprises:
1. a fully completed application form
2. a project plan
3. a budget
4. your CV
Admission requirements
Applicants to the EKWC [Co]Lab residency are required to have an academic qualification and at least two years of independent, professional work experience since completing your studies. If you undertook a master’s degree following your bachelor’s degree, the years spent on your master’s degree do not count towards your work experience.
The second requirement is a complete application. We expect a project plan with a strong concept, as well as a realistic schedule and budget. We are particularly keen to see projects that cannot be realised without the facilities or advice of EKWC’s experts, and which also present a significant technical and artistic challenge for EKWC.
Please bear in mind that EKWC is not a production facility and that EKWC [Co]Lab is intended for unique projects, not for serial production.
Additional provision
Residents are responsible for their own visa applications. If the period of your visa conflicts with the residency period, please get in touch. We will be glad to help you find a solution.
