Self-taught Scottish artist Stuart Jackson has been working in ceramics for fifteen years, with a focus on large-scale figurative sculptures that embody narratives from modern history, evolutionary science, and mythology. Moving between London, Canada, and Scotland, he developed a series of life-size headless human figures telling stories with cat’s cradle. This is an ancient way of communication passed on from generation to generation, in which twine is woven through the fingers to create images and narratives. During his residency at EKWC, he added a new piece to this ever-growing collection, and realized four more large terracotta figures to populate the earth.
