Jerron Herman

Dancer, choreographer, and writer Jerron Herman (US) wants society to be as welcoming as possible for all. Living with cerebral palsy has made him keenly aware how obsessions with productivity and reproduction dominate the representation of the human body. He would like to replace those obsessions with an openness for joy, for the many ways a body can be beautiful. During his five-week residency – a collaboration between EKWC and The Watershed Foundation – he focussed on the EKWC as a physical, social, and professional environment, finding open, welcoming places from the kitchen to the plaster room. The sounds, the rhythms, and the movements of EKWC inspired him to work on a new score.
